Our mission is to promote the health and well being of our dog's small condo living dwelling, the teaching of children to be confident around dogs, and eventually our off-leash dog park will become Honolulu's first formal training facility for companion dogs, fully certified therapy dogs and of course the Willy Dog program which encourages kids to read without the criticism from an adult.
 
I don't know if some of you read the article in The Honolulu Advertiser 2 weeks ago regarding the Off-leash Dog Park at the Ala Wai Community park.  Well, we got the go ahead to submit our landscape blueprints and the proposal for the extent of work needed to be done.  If you did not read the article I have attached a copy of it so you may become aware of our plight and setbacks since receiving the first approval to proceed, then along came the forty days/forty nights of rain and 50 million gallons of raw sewage dumped into the Ala Wai Canal.  This setback came 1 week after Parks and Rec approved our site.  The site is now the staging area for the Emergency waste water bypass project.  We have just recently found out that our land will continue to stage the permanent sewage project for a minimum of 5 years.  As we see the great importance for the Waste water project, the bottom line is, we still have no place in our Condo Jungle for our dogs to romp, socialize and play. 
 
The Parks and Rec has just last week approved a temporary site for the dog park but we are desperate to find a Landscape Architect/Engineer.  2 of our BOD members are viewing the site today to evaluate the extent of engineering we will need.  The Landscape Architect will get plenty of exposure as we will display your logo banner at each and every fundraiser event as well as other dog park events and as a Sponsor Member of our Association, you and/or your company name will be included on our Sponsorship list at the top of all our letterhead.  The Architect will also be able to write-off any and all in-kind donations of time/materials.  There will be tickets and seating at our VIP table on October 29, 2008 for our 3 Annual Fund Raising event at the Willows Restaurant.  They will also receive an advertising space on our website.
 
We are also looking for financial Sponsors to help in the funding of the construction and maintenance.
 
I am desperate to find this Architect asap as I need to get this proposal to DPR.  If anyone of you know any such person please pass the info along to me.
